I almost literally couldn't put this down and stayed up way too late reading it. I was in a rare mood for werewolves and am still waiting for Kaje Harper to finish writing her next werewolves book. LA Witt's wolves are totally different but every bit as wonderful. Or not, as the case may be, since their society and rules are as restrictive in their own way as Kaje's.
I was eager to read the next book and was glad to already have it, so I started it almost first thing the next morning. My only regret is that I'm now waiting as eagerly for LA Witt's third werewolf book as for Kaje's.
For some reason I had trouble with Levi and Ian's names, and keeping straight which name went with which character. So it sometimes got briefly confusing when I mixed them up. I also wasn't sure how much I liked either one at various times, though by the end they'd won me over.
Darius and Selena were my favorite characters, and I adored them both. Because of that, a major plot point at the end pissed me off mightily. I think I can see how it was necessary for the story, but it also struck me as a little too convenient, giving it something of a deus ex machina feel. I'd have felt better if I could at least have wholly believed it was truly necessary.
So my issue near the end and my confusion with the names (which continued throughout the second book) kept me from giving this a full five stars.
