3.5I loved it and had trouble putting it down, but it could have been so much better. Good plot, good main and secondary characters. Generally well-written but with issues I'd have expected beta reader(s) and/or editor(s) to catch and correct. As is unfortunately way too common, there were lots of homophone errors and similar-word substitutions (like 'obliviously' when the intended word was obviously 'obviously'). More importantly, there was also some difficulty with POV. Frequently we'd be in the POV of one character but observing things that character wouldn't be likely to notice. For example, at one point we're in Dare's POV but it says something about how Angel ran his fingers through his golden locks. Um, no. Dare would be aware of the sensation of Angel's fingers in his hair, but it seems unlikely that Dare would be particularly focused on the color of his own hair at the moment. Angel, however, might be appreciating the color as well as the texture of Dare's hair, so it would make sense for him to notice, but only if we're in his POV.The epilogue annoyed me. It did nothing to further the relationship between Angel and Dare, it was just a blatant, contrived, and utterly unnecessary setup for a sequel. It was already clear throughout the story that there would be a sequel and who it would feature, so there was no need to interrupt the resolution for the current characters with the introduction of drama for the upcoming characters.I'm afraid this sounds like I didn't like the book, and that's really not the case. I quite enjoyed it, I'm just frustrated because it wouldn't have taken much for it to be so much better. At one point I found myself wishing I could have been a beta reader to help catch those issues before publication! I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel.
