Life Lessons (Life Lessons, #1)

Life Lessons - Kaje Harper Wow. That was seriously intense. This was the first book I've read by this author, but it will most definitely not be the last! This story had it all: plot, characterization, internal tension, external tension. It gripped me and wouldn't let go til the end. And the moment I finished it, I immediately wanted more. I'm very grateful there's a sequel! This story was complete in itself, in that it ended with a solid HFN. But I'm looking forward to the sequel in which I assume (hope) they'll finally get a real HEA, which can obviously only come when/if Mac comes out.It was consistently the right level of detail, striking that amazingly difficult balance between enough and too much. Also, some books just take you from critical scene to critical scene, making it seem like there's no mundanity in the characters' lives. Other books walk you through mind-numbing irrelevance, with key scenes interspersed too infrequently to be worth reading. This book balanced those two extremes beautifully, giving brief summaries of intervening mundanity and jumping right back into the critical stuff. This is a book I will be re-reading for sure.
